JESUS
We, the members of German City Church recognize Jesus Christ as THE HEADSHIP of this church as in Ephesians 1:22–23 (GW) 22 God has put everything under the control of Christ. He has made Christ the head of everything for the good of the church. 23 The church is Christ’s body and completes him as he fills everything in every way.

Paul Mahaffie
Paul Mahaffie

Paul Mahaffie – Pastor (September 2005-to present)I accepted the Lord as savior when I was 19 years old. I met a young Christian lady who was on fire to share the gospel & as a result, I became active in a Friends church in LA California. We both grew in the Christian life & after 4 years we Got married. Then after only being married for a year & a half, she went home to be with the Lord. Through her death, I saw many come to the saving knowledge of Jesus & my relationship with Jesus was the best.
In my attempt to start over I moved to Denver & got away from my Christian groundings & became very worldly. I fell into the trap of bitterness & anger as it took over my life. It was a very dark time & a long struggle back to a proper relationship with Jesus.
Seven years later, I got married to a Christian again & my relationship with the Lord has been improving daily. We were active in different churches over the years as my job moved us around the country. We returned to Sioux City in 1994 & we became active at Billy Sunday Memorial Tabernacle. One Sunday we had a Gideon speaking & the next thing I knew I was volunteering to become a Gideon. As a Gideon (people who place bibles in motels & etc.) I held different positions & was introduced to street witnessing. Over the 8 years as a Gideon I filled pulpits for pastors, spread God’s word & became active at The Gospel Mission. My thirst for God’s truth became so very important to me.
I Attended Kingsway Christian University & have an Associate’s degree in Theology. I have attended many different denominations over the years & was last at Southern Hills Baptist which licensed me as a Southern Baptist Pastor.
In 2005 I was asked to fill the pulpit at St Johns Evangelical (Now German City Church) & continue to serve in that capacity. I am currently on the board of directors for The Gospel Mission located in Sioux City. Reaching the lost has always been a priority along with Acts 2:42

Sean & Samantha Hallowell
Sean & Samantha Hallowell

Sean Hallowell – Music Director Sean is a very talented musician, trained in the music ministry field.

Samantha Hallowell – Music leader I have been involved in music in some way, shape, or form since I was quite young. I took piano lessons for five years and have continued to play some on my own. I have also played the violin for 25 years and have been a member of an orchestra from 4th grade all the way through college. I have also played in the worship team at my church and played in a hand bell choir for several years. While I was never in choir during school, I have sung in church choirs since I was 14 and have also sung in small groups and with worship teams. Currently, I am singing in the Siouxland Master Chorale and serving as co-worship leader at German City Church.
Music has always been an integral part of my life. I am honored and humbled that God has gifted me in this way and I am grateful that I have been given numerous opportunities to use music as a means to honor and worship God. “I will sing and make music to the Lord.” (Psalm 27:6)
